G17C

The GLOCK G17C is a compensated variant of the G17. The top-side ports in the barrel and slide are intended to reduce muzzle flip by redirecting gasses generated during propellant burn.

GLOCK discontinued the G17C January 2014.

I feel that the compensation ports do not offer enough benefit to the shooter to make the additional noise and flash worthwhile. However, there is a large group of shooters who disagree with me on this. Thus, as with many things I chalk it up to the personal preference of the individual shooter. You will most likely have to shoot one to establish where you stand on the matter.
