A-MAX is a brand name used by Hornady Manufacturing for a line of polymer tipped, match, boattail bullets they produce. ¹

Hornady lists some of the primary features of the A-MAX line as an “ultra low drag tip,” a “secant ogive profile,” a “swaged lead core,” and their trademarked “AMP jacket.” These bullets have been designed to provide rapid expansion but limited penetration. They should be used for muzzle velocities in excess if 2000 fps and are not recommended for hunting.²
