The Winchester Model 12 is a slide action (pump) shotgun. It is fed by a tubular magazine.

      • The Winchester Model 12 in 12 gauge will take 2 3/4″ shotshells regardless of manufacture date.1
      • The Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck version (barrel inscribed “3” Super-X”) in 12 gauge will take a 3″ shotshell.2
      • The Winchester Model 12 in 16 gauge manufactured before 1927 will take 2 9/16″ shotshells.3
      • The Winchester Model 12 in 16 gauge manufactured in 1927 or later will take 2 3/4″ shotshells.4
      • The Winchester Model 12 in 20 gauge manufactured before 1925 will take 2 1/2″ shotshells.5
